MGSI offers a unique opportunity for current high school juniors to gain an immeasurable amount of business knowledge and experience. They are seeking 24 students to participate in the 12th class that will include classroom instruction, an entrepreneurial project, cultural events, outdoor courses and travel to Washington, D.C. and New York City.

Summer Employment at International House Charlotte

International House is looking to hire quite a few staff members to assist young students in their academic growth this summer. Rising Readers is a six-week summer English Tutoring Program for rising kindergarten through rising second grade students. Now in its sixth year, Rising Readers has grown from serving just one school in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, to now serving twelve schools in the upcoming summer! Click HERE for more information.

Applicants must be 16 years or older, and in good academic standing. For students under the age of 18, they must obtain:
·         Two letters of recommendation: one from a teacher, and one from a supervisor (work or volunteer)
·         A letter of approval from the guidance counselor, stating that the student is on track to graduate, and is in good academic standing.

ECU's Pirates in Your Town

A message from ECU:

Greetings from East Carolina University!  We are writing to invite you to some exciting programs we will be hosting in the next few weeks.  Beginning in February, we will be taking ECU on the road as part of our Pirates in Your Town program and invite you to join us. 

These regionally scheduled events will focus on information for admitted students and will include information about campus housing and dining options, financial aid basics and an opportunity to meet the staff member assigned to your high school.  We hope you can join us to learn more about East Carolina University and the opportunities we have available for your students.

Charlotte National College Fair

The NACAC National College Fair is coming to Charlotte in March! Meet one-on-one with college representatives, ask your questions and gather information to help you choose which schools may be a good fit for you. There will also be several workshops available to students and parents. Workshop topics include The College Search, Selective College Admissions, SAT, Financial Aid, HBCU, ACT, Scholarships and NCAA.

College Tours


As we kick off the second semester, I am excited to announce the 2015 College Tour dates and locations. This year, we have planned THREE exciting trips:

*  February 23rd – The Charleston Tour
Charleston Southern University and College of Charleston
6AM-5PM

*  March 20th  - The Carolina/State Tour
NC State and UNC Chapel Hill
8AM-7PM

*  April 9th – 12th – Liberty’s College for a Weekend (CFAW): Liberty University


“The Charleston Tour” and the “Carolina/State Tour” will be approximately $50 each (lunch included). You will be notified of a specific amount once we have a final count of participants.

There is a $50 registration fee for Liberty’s CFAW, which includes meals and events. A minimum of ten participants is required in order to make this a “group” event. Should fewer than ten students express an interest, you may still attend CFAW on your own. However, if ten or more students are interested, we will take bus and attend as a group. Cabarrus College of Health Sciences Open Houses

A message from Cabarrus College of Health Sciences:

We wanted to give you some important dates for Spring Semester at Cabarrus College of Health Sciences.

Open Houses will be held on Thursday, March 26 and Thursday, June 25 from 4:30-6:30pm.  The Open House is a great opportunity to meet representatives from all departments at Cabarrus College including Nursing, Medical Assisting, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy Technology and Surgical Technology.  We'll also have staff from Admissions, the Registrar's Office, Financial Aid, and Student Success on hand to answer questions.  No appointment necessary, just drop in!

Our priority application deadline is February 1 for Fall 2015 admission.  Prospective students with completed applications by the priority deadline will receive notification by March 15.  We continue to accept applications after the priority deadlines until the programs are full.

Redesigned SAT and PSAT/NMSQT

Attention Freshmen and Sophomores!

The College Board has redesigned their standardized tests. Changes are coming this fall to the PSAT/NMSQT, and the spring of 2016 will bring big changes to the SAT.
