In-State Tuition for Out-of-State Students

Free 1st StepTell us a little bit about you, we tell you your best next step toward in-state.

We believe...

...students should be allowed to affordably live and go to college in whichever state they like best.  Parents decide where a kid is born and raised, and there are usually decent (sometimes fantastic) options in that state.  But whether to attend that home-state university or not...that should be a choice.

The big problem is...

...out-of-state tuition in other states is so expensive that it's often considered either impossible or painful.  Earning in-state resident tuition can be a daunting process of navigating vaguely defined concepts with uncertain results.  It can also be a game-changer but most people don't even know where to begin.  Start here!

In-State Angels exists to help students...

...discover, learn about, and earn in-state tuition.  With expert knowledge of in-state residency requirements across America, we offer resources, products, and services to freshly minted adults to help them decide where to live and go to college.

Drexel Summer Institutes

The Classes

At Drexel's Summer Institutes, students learn in classrooms ranging from a state-of-the-art recording studio to a securities trading lab to a designer boutique to a salt marsh. In other words, this is a different kind of school, and a different kind of summer vacation.

The Teachers

Summer Institutes programs are led by Drexel University professors. Our faculty are successful artists, business leaders, practicing doctors, counseling professionals, lawyers, engineers, and expert scientists, and they're ready to teach your students what they've learned from working in their industries.

The Campus and Beyond

College is about more than just classes. At Drexel's Summer Institutes students will make new friends, experience the life of an undergrad on campus, and explore the historic city of Philadelphia. With residential and commuting options, and programs that range in length from one to five weeks, school could be the most exciting thing they do all summer.

For more information about Summer Institutes at Drexel University, including a complete list of programs, dates, and application instructions, please visit our Summer Institutes website.

NCAA Division I Eligibility

The requirements are changing for students who enroll full time at an NCAA Division I school after August 1, 2016.

Students must graduate high school and meet ALL the following requirements:
  • Complete 16 core courses:
    • Four years of English
    • Three years of math (Algebra 1 or higher)
    • Two years of natural/physical science (including one year of lab science if your high school offers it)
    • One additional year of English, math or natural/physical science
    • Two years of social science
    • Four additional years of English, math, natural/physical science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy
  • Complete 10 core courses, including seven in English, math or natural/physical science, before the seventh semester. Once students begin their seventh semester, they may not repeat or replace any of those 10 courses to improve their core-course GPA.
  • Earn at least a 2.3 GPA in their core courses.
  • Earn an SAT combined score or ACT sum score matching their core-course GPA on the Division I sliding scale, which balances their test score and core-course GPA. If students have a low test score, they need a higher core-course GPA to be eligible. If they have a low core-course GPA, they need a higher test score to be eligible.  If they have a low core-course GPA, they need a higher test score to be eligible.

On April 18, 2015, The Chris Canty Foundation will host the 4th Annual Historic West End Cleanup for Change.

Volunteers will gather at Johnson C. Smith University at 8:00am sharp to check-in, and receive tools, and volunteer assignment details.

The Chris Canty Foundation, the City of Charlotte, Johnson C. Smith University, and many other community partners are joining forces to support the cleanup. The community clean-up will impact the following neighborhoods: Biddleville/Smallwood/Five Points, Dalebrook, Eleanor Heights, and Garden Park. New to the cleanup this year is the addition of local schools. This effort will improve the exteriors of Merry Oaks Elementary, South Mecklenburg High School, and West Charlotte High School.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Cleanup For Change, please fill out a volunteer application on our website at www.chriscantyfoundation.org.

Together we can make a strategic impact by preparing these shoeboxes that will show God’s love in countries where it can be difficult to proclaim the Gospel.

Join us in April to process 37,000 shoeboxes! Four different shift options are available for three hours each. Sign up for one or more with your family, youth group, or friends. Volunteers must be 13 years or older to participate.

NEW NCAA Eligibility Center Website

The NCAA Eligibility Center has launched a new website at  NCAA.org/playcollegesports to help high school student-athletes successfully transition to college. The enhanced online content gives student-athletes and counselors a broad look at the initial-eligibility process and detailed information about common eligibility situations.

The new content is part of the NCAA Eligibility Center’s continuing response to customer requests for key pieces of information student-athletes should know as they consider college. Student-athletes are guided through current and upcoming initial-eligibility requirements, recruiting guidelines, and timelines for staying on track in high school. Additional webpages address initial-eligibility situations unique to international, home-school and non-traditional students.

A wide range of frequently-asked questions addressing issues from academic and amateurism eligibility to high school and core-course review are easily searchable and will be expanded in the future.

Community Service

Several students have recently inquired about possible community service opportunities.

Last month, a letter was sent home with each students stating their current number of hours. The letter also included a small sampling of organizations that are looking for volunteers:

There are also several opportunities for student volunteers to get plugged in right here on campus. This Saturday, March 7th, we will have a campus clean-up day from 8:30am-1pm. Meet in the cafeteria for breakfast and then we will put you to work! :)

We also have a few openings in our Academy for Early Learning volunteer group. These students help clean and organize our childcare facility each afternoon.

Students are also invited to join a group that helps in the church office each Tuesday afternoon.

Finally, students with a 3.2 or higher GPA are invited to apply for the Peer Tutoring Program.

Get plugged in and be blessed!

"As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." - I Peter 4:10
