This scholarship opportunity is open to any student willing to host a successful blood drive from November 15, 2017 - January 15, 2018. The blood drive must collect at least 25 units of blood to qualify for the scholarship. For additional information, go to www.cbcc.us/scholarships.

The Wake Forest Summer Immersion Program is a hands-on learning experience built to provide real-world knowledge and a comprehensive view of an academic field of study. This is your chance to dive deep into a field of study with access to world-class faculty, researchers and industry professionals.

WHO IS THIS FOR? We seek talented, curious students that want exposure to their future career path. Applicants must be rising high school sophomores, juniors, seniors and incoming college freshman.

WHEN ARE THEY HELD? Institutes are offered throughout the summer, June - August. Please visit our website for program dates at go.wfu.edu/sip.

WHERE? Residential and nonresidential programs are offered at the Wake Forest University Charlotte Center in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. Residential programs are offered at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. Throughout the week we will visit industry-specific locations tailored to each institute’s planned curriculum. A campus tour and a student-centered Wake Forest admissions presentation is included in the week.

ELEVATE Leadership Lab at Gordon College

We are ramping up for another spectacular Elevate Leadership Lab!
Each year we partner with schools from across the U.S. and the world to build creative confidencein students' unique strengths and equip them with practical skills so that they can give back to their communities.

What is ELEVATE?
Elevate prepares high-caliber students to translate their big ideas to into real impact right where they are. Students are sorted strategically into hand-picked teams to address a tangible social issue in their community. These teams pitch their solutions to a panel of expert judges for the chance to win up to $3,000 in seed money to start their venture.

During our eight-day leadership lab, students:
  • Redefine leadership as collaborative problem-solving.
  • Learn practical marketing skills and storytelling techniques in our hands-on workshops.
  • Expand the meaning of teamwork on our high and low ropes course.
  • Make friendships that span the globe.

Who is ELEVATE for?
Elevate is for high school students who are curious and passionate about creative problem-solving and honing their teamwork skills. Eligible candidates are rising high school juniors and seniorsfrom secondary schools around the globe.

How can you nominate a student for ELEVATE 2018?
Next summer, ELEVATE 2018 will welcome up to 95 students. Your school is invited to nominate up to eight students for the program. Nominations can be made by a person who is familiar with a student's academic and leadership potential. Before early December, nominated students will receive an invitation to apply and an application access code by mail and email.

Assistance League Charlotte

Assistance League® of Charlotte is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and their families through community-based philanthropic programs. Assistance League of Charlotte Scholarship Fund, one of five programs serving area children, has awarded over $350,000 in college scholarships since the program‘s inception in 2002.

The Assistance League® of Charlotte Scholarship will be awarded to a 2018 Mecklenburg County high school graduate who exhibits outstanding community service.  The scholarship, not to exceed $10,000, will provide funding toward tuition, room and board, required fees and books for the freshman year at one of the 16 campuses of The University of North Carolina. At the discretion of the organization, additional scholarships are awarded to students with financial need who have exhibited a commitment to community service.

The 2017- 2018 application is attached to this email and is also available online at www.charlotte.assistanceleague.org

ONLY COMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED. Each year we receive applications that must be eliminated because they are incomplete in some way.  Please use the checklist on the application form to confirm with students that the application packet is complete.
