Mattress Help Scholarship



Eligibility requirements

  • Current high school (or home-schooled) seniors attending school in the United States or Canada OR current college students already studying at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution
  • You must be a U.S. citizen
  • Anticipating completion of high-school diploma at time of application or already in possession of high-school diploma/GED
  • Planning to or currently pursuing a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution
  • Carrying a minimum 3.00 GPA

How to apply

Please submit your scholarship application to our contact AT mattresshelp DOT org email address.
To apply, please create a short video (no longer than 5 minutes) that answers the following:
  • What factors most negatively and positively affect your sleep?
  • Assess the quality of your own sleep health and discuss some ways that you can improve it.
  • Make your video creative and impactful both to yourself and others.
  • The most creative submission will win the scholarship each year.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

Martha Guy Summer Institute for Future Business Leaders

The 2018 Martha Guy Summer Institute is July 8th -July 28th.
The Martha Guy Summer Institute for future business leaders was created to give high achieving high school students interested in pursuing a college degree in business a premier summer experience exploring the different disciplines within business, exposing them to regional business leaders and developing leadership and professional behavior skills needed to be successful in the business realm.
Former participants call the Martha Guy Summer Institute for Future Business Leaders (MGSI) the best summer opportunity available to high school juniors. Since 2004, the institute has provided a select group of students an unparalleled opportunity to learn about business and develop leadership skills in a fun and friendly environment.
The program brings students to Appalachian’s campus to learn about business, and to develop leadership and professional skills. Included in the three weeks is travel to various businesses and cultural activities. The entire experience is described by all as "amazing!"

National Coalition of 100 Black Women Scholarship


National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Queen City Metropolitan Chapter (QCMC) Scholarship Application 

Purpose:

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women is a nonprofit women’s organization. Our mission is to improve the lives of Black women and their families by creating programs focusing on family, education, health, and finances. The QCMC was chartered in Charlotte, NC on September 20, 2009. We endeavor to support the community as well as aspiring young Black women by providing assistance and encouragement to further their education. This is a Merit/Need based Scholarship.

Eligibility:

Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Be an Black woman.
2. Be a resident of and senior graduating within the 2017-2018 school year from a high school in one of the following counties, Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Iredell, Lincoln, Gaston, Union, Lancaster (SC) and York (SC).
3. Have a cumulative 2.5 on a 4.0 scale Grade Point Average (GPA) at the time of application.
4. Has been accepted to an accredited institution of higher learning, a two or four-year college, university, or technical/vocational school at the time of scholarship application. (Provide evidence of acceptance, i.e., copy of acceptance letter, etc.)

Selection Criteria:

The Scholarship Committee will consider the following when selecting scholarship recipients:
1. Provide a current copy of the FAFSA for the 2018-2019 school year.
2. Be able to document academic achievement during their postsecondary matriculation.
3. The recipient of the scholarship must complete 20 hours of documented community service during their postsecondary matriculation.
4. The recipient of the scholarship must agree to provide
5. Finalists are required to attend a personal interview with the Scholarship Committee. All interviews will be communicated two (2) weeks in advance.

Oxbridge Summer Programs

Oxbridge Academic Programs has been welcoming intellectually adventurous students to summer study programs since 1986. Professor James Basker designed these programs for students in grades 7-12 with the goal of giving them the opportunity to live and study in historic centers of learning. Today we offer programs in England, Scotland, France, Spain, and the United States. Students choose two subjects in which to immerse themselves - a major and a minor - from a range of over 200 courses. Popular options include Medicine, Law, Business, and Psychology.
