This year-long program is for high school juniors. It is the College LAUNCH for Leadership.
College LAUNCH for Leadership...
- is a FREE program offered by Wake Forest University at the Wake Forest Charlotte Center in Uptown Charlotte
- targets racially, ethnically, and economically diverse populations; and those historically underrepresented in higher education (e.g. first-generation college students, undocumented immigrants, etc.)
- requires students to attend Saturday Summits at the Wake Forest Charlotte Center, once-per-month from September 2018 – May 2019
- applications are available here. *Only rising-juniors may apply*
Students will...
- engage with community leaders in various industries – medicine, education, law, nonprofits, journalism, entrepreneurship,
public advocacy, and much more! - design a research study or social action intended to raise awareness, impact, or solve a social issue of their choice (e.g. education reform, community-police relations, immigration policy, LGBTQ rights, women’s rights, voting rights, mass incarceration, etc.)
- discover connections between their career aspirations and passion for social change
- interact with Wake Forest University students, faculty, and staff to prepare for college applications, college or job interviews, completing the FAFSA, and applying for scholarships
- develop a sense of critical and social consciousness
