College Board Scholarships

For each of the next five years, the College Board said, it will award 600 scholarships of $500 to students for building a college list, 1,500 scholarships worth $1,000 for practicing for the SAT, 150 scholarships worth $2,000 for improving SAT scores, 400 scholarships worth $500 for strengthening college lists, 800 scholarships worth $1,000 for completing the FAFSA and 500 scholarships worth $1,000 for applying for college.
Students will become eligible for the scholarships through monthly drawings as they work their way through the checklist.
The College Board said it will award at least 25 scholarships worth $40,000 to students who complete all six steps on the checklist.

CPCC Open House

Welcome to our Fall 2018 Open House on November 3rd from 10am-1pm! You won’t be disappointed when you come to this event and experience the great information on the different academic programs we have to offer. Here is some great news for your students!
1) We will have our student ambassadors conducting campus tours for anyone who wants to get a good glimpse of the student experience here at CPCC.
2) There will be a myriad of break-out sessions that will cover specific information for Career and College Promise (CCP), Residency (RDS), Financial Aid and the Transfer Process.
3) Computer labs will be available for guests to complete an application.
4) There will be a chance for you to interact with Faculty and Staff. There will also be an opportunity for you to explore different academic programs and student services that we offer here at CPCC as well.

Assistance League of Charlotte Scholarship information
Assistance League® of Charlotte is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and their families through community-based philanthropic programs. Assistance League of Charlotte Scholarship Fund, one of five programs serving area children, has awarded over $425,000 in college scholarships since the program's inception in 2002.
The Assistance League® of Charlotte Scholarship will be awarded to a 2019 Mecklenburg County high school graduate who exhibits outstanding community service.  The scholarship, not to exceed $12,000, will provide funding toward tuition, room and board, required fees and books for the freshman year at one of the 16 campuses of The University of North Carolina. At the discretion of the organization, additional scholarships are awarded to students with financial need who have exhibited a commitment to community service.
 The 2018-2019 application is attached to this email and is also available online at www.charlotte.assistanceleague.org
ONLY COMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED. Each year we receive applications that must be eliminated because they are incomplete in some way.  Please use the checklist on the application form to confirm with students that the application packet is complete.
 All application paperwork (hard copy) should be returned to Mrs. Holmes by Wednesday, February 13, 2019.
