Interested in Coding?

We are a non-profit recruiting summer interns for our coding camps at UNC Charlotte this summer, and we'd love to be able to offer this opportunity to juniors and seniors at your high school! Participating students would learn some of the novel programming languages we've designed for children and would gain skills in leadership, education, and technology. Anyone interested in pursuing coding or education in college would be highly qualified for the internship!

Would you be able to share this internship opportunity with juniors & seniors at your school? Students can learn more on our website here, and the application for the internship is here

Thanks so much for your help!

Brady/Cobin Scholarship

I'm writing you to announce a new scholarship sponsored by the Brady/Cobin Law Group. The scholarship will have three prizes, ranging from $500 to $2,500. High school seniors are eligible to apply, as long as they plan to use the money to pay for college-related expenses.

To apply, students must submit an essay response to one of the following prompts:
  • What does legacy mean to you? What do you think it means to leave a legacy? Are there different kinds of valuable legacies? What sort of legacy do you want to leave behind?
  • Imagine you are 65, retired, and looking over your will. What advice would you give your younger self about retirement planning, saving, investing, writing a will etc. What are the most important steps for planning for your future?
  • Think about the legacy you want to leave behind. How important will estate planning, creating a will, and other planning be to maintaining your legacy?

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is May 1, 2020. The winners will be announced in June.

This is a newer scholarship, so we are looking for applicants. I was hoping you could share this scholarship with your students.

Michael A. DeMayo 2020 Scholarship Program

The DeMayo Law Offices is now accepting applications for our
2020 Michael A. DeMayo Scholarship award program
.
The deadline for submissions will be March 16th, 2020. We will also mail applications to local area high schools that are eligible to participate. Thank you for your interest.
The annual Michael A. DeMayo Scholarship program is an exciting opportunity for local high school seniors to have a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship toward their college education.
The firm will be awarding a total of $37,500 in college scholarships to 15 high school seniors who reside and attend schools in counties served by the firm, including: Mecklenburg, Gaston, Catawba, Union (NC), Cabarrus, Cleveland, Lincoln, Rowan, Caldwell, Stanly, Iredell, Alexander, Burke, Robeson, Scotland, Richmond, Anson, Cumberland, York, Lancaster, Chester, Union (SC), Cherokee, Chesterfield, Marlboro and Dillon.
When the scholarship program initially began in 2003, the personal injury law firm awarded five $1,000 scholarships to Mecklenburg County seniors who wrote essays on how the community could help curb underage drinking and driving.
Over the past 18 years, the scholarship program at DeMayo Law Offices has grown. The program now includes 15 winners, across 26 counties, each who receive a $2,500 scholarship.
To qualify, students must have applied for full-time enrollment at a four-year university or college and must complete and return a scholarship application to DeMayo Law Offices, L.L.P. by the announced deadline. Scholarships will be awarded based on the student’s essay, PowerPoint presentation, or brochure, as well as their application, SAT scores, transcripts and letters of recommendation. Students are asked to submit their presentations and all related documents by mailing their completed applications to the address provided or in person at one of our local offices. Winners will be chosen by a selection committee.
“Our firm has chosen this investment in our youth so that all of us together can help prevent underage drinking and driving,” DeMayo said. “We are proud to make a difference in our community by awarding over $300,000 in college scholarships to deserving high school seniors in North and South Carolina since 2003.”

PB&J Scholarship

PB&J Scholarship

by PB&J Scholarship

Deadline: 05/31/20
Amount: $500 – $1,000
The PB&J scholarship awards students who have experienced challenges in their life that may not have allowed them to perform well academically but still have the drive to succeed.

From The Scholarship Director
When I attended Farrington High School in Hawai’i, my GPA and test scores were low, but I was determined to go to college. I managed to receive ten different scholarships, which helped me fulfill that dream. To give back to future students, I lived off PB&J sandwiches during my first year in college to save money to fund a scholarship for another student like me.

Students may apply on this link http://bit.ly/pbjscholars2020. To apply students need a 1-2 page personal statement, 1 letter of recommendation (2 preferred), 1 transcript.
