Accounting Career Awareness Program

Scholarship Overview
This summer program provides minority high school students with an exciting opportunity to:

  • Hear from some of Charlotte's top Fortune 500 companies
  • Network with Accounting and Finance professionals
  • Work with other high school students on a business case study competition
Scholarship Background
ACAP is a trademark program owned by the National Association of Black Accountants Inc. and is held in 18 major cities across the country. The primary objective of ACAP is to increase understanding of accounting and business career opportunities among high school students from underrepresented ethnic groups. This is typically a 5-day summer residency camp where students reside overnight (under direct adult supervision), however, due to COVID-19 the program will be conducted virtually.
Requirements

An eligible applicant must be/have:

  • High school student
  • 2.0 GPA for freshman and sophomores
  • 2.5 GPA for juniors and seniors
  • An unofficial transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation (leave the explanation currently on the site regarding eligibility)
  • 100-word essay

Students must complete the entire application package to be considered for ACAP. Incomplete applications will not be considered. There will be no follow-up communication to request information not received by the application deadline.

Selected applicants will be invited to interview with the Charlotte chapter.

Notifications, including interview details and rejections, will be communicated via email. Please confirm the email addresses provided in the application are accurate and legible. Failure to respond to email correspondence within the requested time frames will be considered a forfeiture of interview time.

Please email acap@nabacharlotte.org with any questions.
