Youth Conservation Corps Progrm




FALL 2022 WEEKEND YOUTH CONSERVATION CORPS PROGRAM

This fall, Conservation Corps North Carolina, in partnership with local non profits and state and federal agencies, is hosting a weekend Youth Conservation Corps Program in six communities. Each weekend is an overnight group camping event that includes training in Leave No Trace principles, a service activity such as tree planting or trail maintenance, and an opportunity for youth to get early experience with the outdoor and conservation industries. This volunteer event is generously sponsored by the Duke Energy Foundation.

PROVIDED TO THE HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS:

  • Leadership from experienced Conservation Corps North Carolina Adult Program Staff and Alumni
  • All camping gear needed.
  • Leave No Trace Principles Education.
  • Experience completing a conservation service activity (examples include trail maintenance, tree planting, raised bed construction, etc).
  • Community Service Hours (10 to 14, depending on the location)
  • $100, thanks to our sponsors, to offset travel and any other expenses.

CHARLOTTE, NC - OCTOBER 29-30, 2022

This weekend is a partnership with Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation. The service activity will be completed with Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation. Camping will occur at McDowell Nature Preserve’s Copperhead Island.
