Farm Bureau Scholarships
R. Flake Shaw
North Carolina Farm Bureau’s R. Flake Shaw Scholarship Program awards six new
four-year scholarships each year valued at $4,000 per year ($16,000 total per
student) for study at a college or university in an agriculturally-related course of
study. Deadline for receipt by N.C. Farm Bureau: March 4, 2016.
In addition, two new scholarships valued at $1,000 per year ($2,000 total per
student) are awarded each year for two years of study for an associate degree in
an agriculturally-related field, or to prepare for transfer to a college or university.

Applications for R. Flake Shaw Scholarships only should be submitted directly
to N.C. Farm Bureau Mecklenburg County Farm Bureau
On the local level, Mecklenburg County Farm Bureau annually awards two
scholarships, up to $1500 each in value, to qualified applicants entering their
freshman year of college. Eligible candidates must be high school seniors from a
Mecklenburg County Farm Bureau member family. For additional eligibility
requirements for this scholarship and to obtain an application, please contact
Mecklenburg County Farm Bureau (704-548-9845). Deadline: March 31, 2016.
Institute for Future Agriculture Leaders (IFAL) (June 12-17, 2016)
IFAL is a week-long program for rising high school seniors interested in the
industry of agriculture. Emphasis is placed on career opportunities, emerging
technology, citizenship and leadership development. For more information and
