At Duke TIP's Field Studies, students can take advantage of leading
resources to explore their passions. These two-week courses provide
either a taste of the college life while living on campus at Duke
University or the New College of Florida, or a once-in-a-lifetime
experience at a unique destination location. Students can apply to:
- do hands-on research with lemurs at the Duke Lemur Center
- explore nanotechnology with cutting-edge tools
- observe marine life while doing research in Florida's Sarasota Bay
- study tropical medicine with rural indigenous communities in Costa Rica
- start on their novels at a stunning desert retreat in New Mexico
- investigate astronomy, physics, and astrobiology at a working observatory in the North Carolina mountains
- pursue college-level courses in such topics as psychology, medical care, human rights advocacy, filmmaking, and more on the Duke University campus
Whatever they choose, they'll be guided by expert instructors and
surrounded by other academically talented high schoolers who can help
push them to new heights—and who may become lifelong friends.
Students are admitted on the basis of an online portfolio application—you can find instructions on our website.
Applications are open now, and all students in grades nine through
twelve are welcome to apply. You do not have to be a member of a Duke
TIP talent search, and financial aid is available for all US-based
courses.
